I made the kids some SUPER cute pajamas. I love cute kids pajamas, and this is my favorite style. I used the Alex & Anna Winter PJs pattern (affiliate link). This is one of the first kids’ patterns I’ve purchased. Almost all other kids patterns I’ve used are either free or I tested. I’ve realized my kids are getting to the point where I want certain styles, and I’ll have to purchase patterns to get those styles. I can’t get by with free stuff anymore. But I’m okay with that. I’m glad I can support the sewing community in a small way. (Besides having a blog.)
The pattern was great. It was easy to print and easy to follow. I made Henry’s a size 3 width and size 5 length. For Claire I made a straight size 18 mos. The only issue I had was the sizing of Claire’s cuffs. I’m not sure what happened, if it was my mistake or an issue with the pattern, but Claire’s cuffs had a really small circumference. I did the pants cuffs first and ended up cutting them off and adding new, wider ones. It worked out in the end, but I need to figure out what the original problem was.
I let Henry look at a couple of different fabrics on My Fabric Designs to choose which print he’d like to become pajamas. He chose this really fun rainbow bike fabric, and I got it printed on organic cotton interlock. I love that it’s fun and playful while still being masculine. I used some blue ribbing from my stash for the neckband and cuffs.
(I added blue contact paper dots to our wall behind our bed when we first moved in. It’s a super cute polka dot wall that children’s hands can’t be kept off of. The dots get moved around every once in awhile. That’s why there’s a cluster right next to Henry’s head.)
I didn’t let Claire choose because I knew this kitty and stars fabric would be perfect for her. She loved it the second it came in the mail and wore it around on her head. This girl LOVES cats. She follows the neighbor’s cats around, and she has catlike tendencies. I also got the organic cotton interlock for her. It’s just a fantastic fabric. I love the sturdy weight it has while still being really soft. It feels like it’ll hold up to lots of wear, and it gets softer with each wash. I used a plum ribbing for the neckline and cuffs.
My kids love these pajamas. Henry watched my every move while I was making his. Claire tried to put her pajama pants on over what she was wearing when I showed them to her.
